Songs, video and performance: By the waterways

Marita and Stuart's project researched Melbourne's waterways, the changes industrialisation brought to the local creek and river environments, and the life of the people who lived and worked along their banks. The waterways researched included the Yarra and Maribyrnong rivers, and the Merri, Darebin, Moonee Ponds and Stony creeks.

Marita and Stuart wrote and recorded a suite of songs inspired by their research, and created accompanying video works for each song.

Marita Dyson is a songwriter, composer and visual artist, and Stuart Flanagan is a songwriter, composer and producer. Their creative practice, The Orbweavers, has produced highly evocative works, and many of their musical compositions and performances have been inspired by history, natural science and cultural collections.

They have received national and international praise for their songs and documentary soundtracks, and have performed across the country at music festivals in addition to supporting international acts.
